Located in Portstewart, the Port House is 4 miles from Portrush
and 5 miles from Coleraine.
Portstewart has a 2 mile Blue Flag beach which was named the
UK’s Best Beach by the Sunday Times in July 2025. A convenient
base for visiting the Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope
Bridge, Bushmills with the oldest distillery in the world and
Mount Sandel in Coleraine which is the oldest site of human
settlement in Ireland.
Golfers are very well catered for with 2 courses in the town and
the famous Royal Portrush Links 4 miles away. The Portstewart
Golf Club in Derry has been chosen as the venue for the 2017
Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, which will be hosted once again by
Rory McIlroy’s ‘Rory Foundation’. The British Open set to return
to the Royal Portrush Golf Club Dunluce links in the third week
of July in 2019.and 2025..
Walking, surfing, horse-riding, fishing, canoeing and cycling are
also available locally.
The town has a great choice of fine restaurants and a vibrant
social and cultural life.
The International North West 200 is a motorcycle road race first
held in 1929 on a 8.970 mile street circuit known as "the
Triangle" between the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and
Portrush in Causeway Coast and Glens.
The Causeway Coastal Way which runs from Portstewart to
Ballycastle and passes along sandy beaches, rocky bays, high
cliffs, seaside resorts and small fishing villages.
Many of the locations for the award winning TV series Game of
Thrones can be visited locally including the famous Dark
Hedges located on the Bregagh Road, Armoy and Ballintoy
Harbour.
Travelling west the City of Londonderry/Derry (UK City of
Culture 2013) is only an hour away.
The beautiful County of Donegal in the South of Ireland can also
be easily reached by a short car ferry journey across the River
Foyle from Magilligan.
